Mysore

Went on a one day trip to Mysore for the Nth time in April 2010. Mysore is about 150km from Bangalore and the drive is very enjoyable. There are lot of places to visit in and around Mysore, but we just visited Gopalswamy betta, the famous Brindavan Gardens and KRS (Krishnaraja Sagar Dam).

Gopalswamy betta is about 75km from Mysore located in the core area of Bandipur National Park and is also the highest peak in that area (betta means mountain in kannada) .
This is the first time I had been to Gopalswamy betta. It's a good place for trek but since it was summer we didn't bother to trek and instead we drove to the hill peak. There is temple of Venugopalaswamy(Lord Krishna) on the betta and hence the name. Its a very nice temple and inside the temple where the Lord is placed you can feel the fog and hence the name Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta aptly.

View from the hill top

I have been visiting Brindavan Gardens and KRS right from my childhood and every time I visit the place I feel the same as I did the first time. Its such a beautiful place. We visited the Brindavan at night and it was so amazingly lit. Musical fountain always steals my heart. Since it was night time I couldn't capture many pictures sadly. I'm just posting one pic.

Hamsa, believe it or not, though born and brought up in Benagluru I haven't been to KRS even once!

After looking at the KRS picture you posted, am eager to visit the place sooner. Good one :o)
